Leading blockchain and cryptocurrency communications firm, Melrose PR is looking to fill a Senior PR Account Executive position. An understanding and passion for the crypto space, or a desire to learn, is a must. This is a client-facing position that requires excellent client management skills.

This is a fully remote position - Senior PR Account Executives work a standard 8-hour day, M-F.

Candidates should have experience with and be able to execute the following tasks:

  • Client management 
  • All client comms are your responsibility. The goal is to always meet or exceed their expectations. Make sure client goals are being executed on and efforts & results are being communicated to the client
  • Be responsive to client communications in a timely and respectful manner
  • Lead all client calls and delegate appropriate sections to AE
  • Keep client goals top of mind across all opportunities and approaches
  • Identify if client is not satisfied and discuss reasons and possible solutions with relevant team members
  • Understand what is included in the client's scope of work and set boundaries with the client appropriately to not over service
  • Manage client messaging
  • Create messaging based on Intro Call and update messaging throughout the engagement as needed
  • Advise on messaging that will best suit their objectives
  • Manage clients' announcement timelines, content, and execution strategy
  • Be an expert for clients on the best approach to announcements, including but not limited to level of newsworthiness, targeted outlets, exclusive vs. embargo (or wire distribution)
  • Be adapt in crafting announcements with a messaging hierarchy and language that matches the client's goals and target audience
  • Lead the execution on announcement outreach, including delegating as needed to an AE for pitch list development, pitch drafting, outreach, pivoting angles and approach as needed, gathering results, and communicating to client throughout process
  • Manage clients' proactive approach to thought leadership
  • Lead the approach to proactive outreach, including pitching for intro chats, podcasts, broadcast, and navigating inbound (which includes delegating)
  • Provide guidance to AEs if delegating on topic, pitch list, pitch, etc. and be ready to pivot if results are not being generated. Communicate efforts to the client
  • Schedule sourcing conversations with spokespeople as needed to update angles and be aware of how their expertise fits into current trends
  • Recommend competitor/topic audits as needed and lead/delegate the completion of those audits
  • Manage client content creation
  • Propose topics for op-eds
  • Delegate or handle drafting and editing through approval
  • Create pitch list for op-ed and manage outreach
  • Manage client speaker submissions for events
  • Maintain an updated spreadsheet of relevant events with deadlines that is shared with the client (can delegate to AE, but monitor to ensure spreadsheet is up-to-date)
  • Recommend events for attendance and speaker applications to the client based on spokesperson's expertise and the client's goals
  • Ensure targeted speaker submissions are drafted on topics that match client's objectives and put them in the best position to be accepted—and submitted prior to the deadline
  • Track progress of submission and communicate updates to client
  • For clients attending an event with media present, lead/delegate outreach to relevant media to set up intro chats or let reporters know about private events, speakers, etc.
  • Media training
  • Lead media training for spokespeople to ensure they are prepared to speak to the press and provide feedback on ways they can improve
  • Make sure one-sheet talking points reflect spokesperson's expertise and agreed-upon messaging throughout engagement
  • AE management
  • Ultimately, the goal is to put the AE in a position to grow into other positions—one of your main responsibilities is to foster their development
  • Delegation of tasks should be clear with expected deadlines (checking in on the status of the task regularly and helping them to reprioritize as needed)
  • Make sure call agendas and recaps are reflective of what has been discussed
  • Review all other documents or materials AEs have been delegated, which could include, one-sheets, speaker applications, media training documents, etc.
  • Provide actionable feedback on areas that need improvement
  • Review AE performance
  • Internal Team Communication
  • Work adeptly with other team members on strategic brainstorms regarding the approach to announcements or thought leadership
  • Know when to bring in other experts / assistance from the team to support and enhance your efforts

Objectives

  • Client retention - evaluated on manager's discretion, taking into account clients who leave based on budgetary reasons or lack of announcements / other ingredients to success.
  • Garner high satisfaction e from client comms point of contact
  • See tangible improvement from people you manage quarter over quarter

  • Basic knowledge of blockchain technology, terminology, and the cryptocurrency ecosystem

Salaries at Melrose are calculated based on experience/skills and markets regionally and internationally i.e West Coast, East Coast etc.
