The Role

As an early-stage startup, Airship moves quickly and evolves rapidly. This role reports directly to the CEO and requires self-direction, alignment with company priorities, and a focus on what’s critical for success. As the Founding Product Manager, you will establish the foundational processes and systems to shape our product organization. Working closely with the founders, you’ll co-develop product strategies and best practices, while taking ownership of a highly impactful product. 

Responsibilities

  • Set up, own, and execute essential product management processes: backlog prioritization, user stories, epics, bug reports.
  • Communicate product delivery updates to internal teams: both verbally and in written form, communicate sprint plans, demos, release notes.
  • Collaborate on the product roadmap (1, 3, 6 months) with the entire team, including the founders, engineers, and designers.
  • Develop an initial product marketing strategy and utilize consistent updates to evangelize our early and future customers.
  • Build a product culture focused on solving both user and decision-maker (buyer) problems, complementing founder-driven feature ideas.
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to research, scope, test, build, and evangelize optimal product solutions.
  • Regularly meet with clients to keep their needs central to product discussions.
  • Support the founder by taking on strategic tasks like competitive analysis.

  • Comfortable weighing and assessing the business impact of product trade-offs.
  • Derives satisfaction from finding simple solutions to complex problems.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of SaaS product management experience.
  • Experience working on small, nimble teams.
  • Experience in product discovery, planning and development in an early-stage startup environment.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Comfortable in a fast moving environment where change is the norm.
  • Experience building products and features that depend on and support 3rd party integrations.

Bonus Points

  • Can set up and maintain a product analytics stack.
  • Fintech and/or home services experience.
  • Experience building products for SMBs.
  • Experience in hiring PMs/designers and using product analytics software.
