Software Engineering Intern – Winter/Spring 2026
Software Engineering Intern – Winter/Spring 2026
Remote (U.S.-based only) · 10–25 hrs/week · Jan–May 2026
At Complama, we help startups build secure, trustworthy products by turning cybersecurity, privacy, and AI governance requirements into clear, self-service workflows. We’re looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineering Intern to join our small, high-trust team and contribute directly to our product development.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll report to our Head of Engineering and collaborate directly with our founding team, build real features, and learn how early-stage products evolve from spec to deployment.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a self-starter who is technically capable, thoughtful in their approach, and highly motivated to grow in a fast-paced environment. You might be a strong candidate if you:
- Have experience building web applications, either through coursework, internships, or personal projects
- Are familiar with modern development tools and languages (JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, SQL)
- Understand the fundamentals of full-stack development, including REST APIs, frontend/backend integration, and authentication flows
- Communicate clearly, ask good questions, and work well in asynchronous, remote teams
- Pay attention to detail and care about how users experience the product
- Bonus: You’ve worked in Agile/Scrum environments and are comfortable using tools like Jira
What You’ll Do
As a software engineering intern at Complama, you’ll contribute to the development of our core platform and help shape how startups approach security and compliance. Your work will include:
- Building and refining user-facing features using React, JavaScript, and TailwindCSS
- Contributing to backend services and APIs built with Java (Spring Boot) and MySQL
- Exploring ways to improve performance, usability, and maintainability across the application
- Collaborating with our product team to understand requirements, propose solutions, and iterate based on user and team feedback
- Participating in two week Scrum sprints, sprint planning, and retros to deliver incremental value
- Writing clean, well-documented code and contributing to reviews and shared standards
We use AWS (EC2, S3, SES) for infrastructure, GitHub Actions for CI/CD, and follow an Agile Scrum process managed in Jira.
