Position Overview: The Senior Settlement Officer is responsible for managing the end-to-end loan settlement process for commercial and private lending transactions, ensuring all conditions precedent are satisfied, documentation is accurate, funds are disbursed correctly, and regulatory and internal risk requirements are met.
This role plays a critical control function in protecting the lender’s interests while delivering a smooth and professional settlement experience to brokers, solicitors, and borrowers.

What are we looking for?
- Minimum 2 to 5 years’ experience within a loan settlement role for an Australian mortgage non-bank lender or financial institution.
- Strong understanding of Australian lending environment, including application processing, credit assessment and settlements
- Good understanding of lending law and contract law
- Excellent written and telephone communication skills

Key Responsibilities
Loan Documentation & Legal Coordination
- Liaise closely with lender solicitors, brokers, borrowers, and internal credit teams throughout the documentation and settlement process.
- Review loan contracts, mortgages, guarantees and supporting legal documents to ensure they align with:
- Credit approval terms
- Security requirements
- Regulatory and compliance obligations
Pre-Settlement Conditions & Compliance
Manage and track all outstanding conditions precedent to settlement
- Ensure all required certifications, declarations and solicitor confirmations are received and satisfactory prior to settlement.
- Conduct thorough pre-settlement file checks to confirm readiness for settlement.
Review executed loan documents for accuracy and completeness
Settlement Preparation & Execution
- Prepare settlement checklists and internal approval confirmations prior to funding.
- Calculate settlement figures including loan proceeds, fees, interest adjustments and disbursements.
- Ensure loan files are fully completed and compliant for audit and record-keeping purposes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of settlement processes and controls.
