Risk & Insurance Department Internship
The Risk & Insurance Department is responsible for managing the self-insurance and commercial insurance plans through a partnership with the markets, claims management and pro-active risk management to include the minimization of harm to our patients, visitors, employees, and the organization. The intern will assist with both the risk management and insurance activities of the department. The intern will assist with supporting nonclinical and clinical risk management and the coordination of the centralized insurance program. Lines of business include professional liability, general liability, executive risk, property, cyber liability, crime, reinsurance for the captive, auto, aviation and others.
Location: Remote - Working Eastern time zone hours
Dates: Monday, May 18, 2026 - Friday, August 7, 2026 (approx.)
Hours: 20 - 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks

Responsibilities
- Risk Management - Participates in the risk analysis to determine effective loss prevention activities then implements loss prevention activities, including education, related to both clinical and non-clinical policies as directed by the System Director.
- Insurance Renewals – Assists with collection of underwriting information including collecting data needed for the captive, reinsurance, physician, and multiple commercial insurance policy renewals and bonds and maintains this data for historical purposes. May also attend underwriting meetings if scheduling permits.
- Asset Management – assist with maintaining databases of insured entities, properties, vehicles, drivers, physicians, etc. in the risk management information system.
- Insurance Policy Review – Assists with policy review, creating and maintaining schedules of insurance, premiums, policy summaries, etc.
- Certificates of Insurance - Works with facilities, practice managers, real estate, finance, human resources, and other internal departments to manage certificate of insurance requests.
- Surety Program - Works with facilities, practice managers, real estate, finance, human resources, and other internal departments to assist with requests for bonds.
- Special Projects - May assist with special projects.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Risk & Insurance, Business, Healthcare, or related field
- Strong service orientation
