Report Analyst

What You’ll Do

As a Report Analyst, you’ll transform complex HR, Payroll, and General Ledger data into accurate, actionable reporting solutions that support client decision-making and internal operations. This role requires precision, analytical depth, and the ability to translate business needs into structured technical outputs. Success means delivering high-quality custom reports at scale—on time, error-free, and with documentation that builds long-term client trust.

  • Design and build custom reports, dashboards, and data extracts using SQL, SSRS, and Prism Report Center based on defined business requirements.
  • Translate business requests into technical specifications by conducting structured discovery conversations with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Validate and reconcile data across HRIS, payroll, and financial systems to ensure accuracy and SLA compliance.
  • Troubleshoot reporting discrepancies, investigate root causes, and optimize report performance and sustainability.
  • Support General Ledger configuration and payroll-to-finance reporting alignment through structured mappings and imports.
  • Improve documentation standards and contribute to team knowledge-sharing to strengthen overall reporting quality.

This is not a data science or predictive analytics role focused on advanced modeling or machine learning. It is not a purely client-facing consulting position without technical depth—you will be hands-on writing SQL and building reports yourself. It is also not a passive reporting role where requests are simply fulfilled as submitted; you are expected to clarify requirements, recommend improvements, and proactively safeguard data integrity. Finally, this is not a low-volume environment—you will manage multiple concurrent requests and are expected to consistently meet defined service-level expectations.

What You Bring

You’re analytical, structured, and dependable under pressure. You enjoy working in systems, finding discrepancies others miss, and delivering work that clients can rely on without hesitation. You don’t cut corners, and you’re comfortable managing multiple deadlines while maintaining precision.

  • Hands-on experience working with HRIS or payroll systems (Prism experience strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency writing SQL queries and building reports in SSRS or similar BI/reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger structures and payroll-to-finance data relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage 10+ concurrent work requests in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly document assumptions, logic, and report outputs.
  • Sound judgment and analytical thinking when resolving discrepancies or ambiguous requirements.
