Procurement Specialist

Your New Role:

As a Procurement Specialist - Construction, you will be responsible for managing the entire procurement process of construction materials, particularly focusing on sourcing from China. This includes identifying suppliers, issuing RFIs, negotiating contracts, and ensuring materials are delivered on time. The ideal candidate will have strong procurement experience and an ability to handle the complexities of international sourcing. Fluency in Mandarin is a significant advantage for this role.


Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the procurement process for construction materials, specifically focusing on sourcing from China.

• Develop and maintain relationships with international suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and high-quality standards.

• Issue and manage RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs for construction materials.

• Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery schedules align with project requirements.

• Collaborate with internal teams (project managers, engineers, etc.) to understand material specifications and project timelines.

• Monitor the supply chain, ensuring on-time delivery while managing any delays or disruptions.

• Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, and stay updated on industry trends and material innovations.

• Prepare and review procurement reports, budgets, and forecasts for construction projects.

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal procurement policies.

• Maintain effective communication with stakeholders across different time zones, particularly with suppliers in China.

• Assist with inventory management and ensure material orders meet the required stock levels.


Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field.

• 3-5 years of proven experience in procurement, with a focus on construction materials or similar industries.

• Strong understanding of international sourcing and procurement processes, particularly with suppliers in China.

• Experience managing RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.

• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage contracts and supplier relationships effectively.

• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fully remote environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Fluency in Mandarin (both written and spoken) is highly preferred for effective communication with suppliers.

• Familiarity with supply chain management software or ERP systems.

• Knowledge of the construction industry and construction material standards.
