Location: Remote (Savannah, GA preferred)
Compensation: $50,000–$55,000 annually
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday

This is not an enterprise payroll role, not an internal HR position, and not a strategic department-building opportunity.

We are a growing small business accounting firm serving 120+ owner-led businesses. Our clients typically have 1–10 employees and use payroll platforms such as Gusto, QBO Payroll, ADP, and Square.

About the Role:
You will own payroll processing end-to-end for multiple small business clients across several payroll platforms. You will be responsible for accuracy, compliance awareness, tax registrations, and direct client communication.
Within 90 days, you should be able to process routine payroll independently with minimal oversight.
Core Responsibilities:
Process payroll across multiple platforms
Validate payroll inputs before submission
Set up new payroll accounts in systems such as Gusto, QBO, ADP, or Square
Establish state withholding and unemployment tax accounts when required
Handle multi-state payroll
Resolve payroll tax notices
Manage garnishments and benefit deductions
Communicate directly with clients
Identify and address compliance risks proactively
What We’re Looking For:
Public accounting or CPA firm payroll experience
Experience processing payroll for multiple small business clients
Direct experience handling payroll tax registrations and notices
Comfort working across different payroll systems
Resourceful problem-solver who can research issues and close loops
Clear, direct communicator
Not a Fit If:
Your background is primarily enterprise or corporate payroll
You prefer internal HR environments
You require daily supervision
You have not personally handled payroll compliance issues
