Outreach and Engagement Specialist


Elevated Horizons Mental Health is looking for a confident, self-starting Outreach and Engagement Specialist Intern to join our team. This is a paid internship ($10/hr+ based on skills) for someone who’s eager to gain hands-on experience in marketing, outreach, and brand engagement in the mental health space.

Responsibilities

Outreach and Partnership Development
  • Identify and research potential referral sources, collaborators, and community partners aligned with Elevated Horizons Mental Health’s mission.
  • Conduct cold outreach via email, phone, or social media to introduce EHMH services and explore partnership opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain an outreach tracking system to monitor contact status, follow-ups, and outcomes.
Marketing Automation and Lead Nurturing
  • Build and manage email marketing sequences, including welcome series, event invitations, and follow-up campaigns using marketing automation tools.
  • Create and optimize lead capture forms, landing pages, and client intake funnels to ensure seamless user experiences.
  • Monitor automation performance and recommend improvements to increase engagement and conversion rates.
Website Management and SEO
  • Update website content regularly on Squarespace, including service pages, blog posts, event announcements, and visual elements.
  • Apply SEO best practices, including keyword optimization, metadata updates, internal linking, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure website content accurately represents EHMH’s services and tone.
Content Creation and Design
  • Develop branded graphics, visuals, and promotional materials for social media, email campaigns, and the website using Canva or similar tools.
  • Edit short-form video content for social media, reels, and marketing campaigns that align with EHMH’s brand voice and tone.
  • Write clear, professional, and engaging content that promotes EHMH’s mission and services while meeting accessibility and inclusivity standards.
Funnel Building and Optimization
  • Design, test, and refine client acquisition funnels to guide potential clients from awareness to engagement.
  • Ensure that funnels align with EHMH’s service offerings and client journey, providing a user-friendly and welcoming experience.
  • Analyze funnel performance and make data-informed adjustments to improve lead conversion.
Reporting and Communication
  • Submit weekly progress updates, including outreach efforts, marketing tasks completed, and performance insights via Connecteam.
  • Participate in regular check-ins and collaborative sessions with Alexis, Founder and CEO.
  • Proactively communicate needs, questions, or challenges that may impact the progress of assigned tasks.



Qualifications

Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas, outreach messages, and campaign strategies.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while confidently taking initiative.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English; able to communicate across diverse audiences with cultural sensitivity.
  • Creative thinker who can contribute new ideas, explore growth opportunities, and not simply complete assigned tasks.
  • Able to critically examine marketing areas for improvement, including calendar management, campaign structure, and outreach strategies.
  • Confident in giving presentations or proposals for marketing ideas, partnership strategies, or outreach campaigns.
  • Proficient with digital tools such as Squarespace, Canva, basic video editing platforms (CapCut, Adobe Rush, etc.), and marketing automation tools.
  • Comfortable using team management apps like Connecteam to collaborate and track progress.
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and ability to apply them in content, website updates, and campaign development.
  • Ability to conduct research, organize outreach efforts, and manage outreach pipelines consistently.
Education:
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree or certificate program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework or self-taught knowledge in digital marketing, outreach, content creation, or mental health awareness is welcome.
Experience:
  • Prior internship, volunteer experience, or project-based work in marketing, outreach, graphic design, website management, or similar fields preferred but not required.
  • Experience (formal or informal) working with mental health, wellness, social services, or community organizations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with mental health care systems, common gaps in access, and the importance of culturally competent care is highly valued.
