Network Engineer III
We are hiring for Network Engineer III in Bedminster, NJ
Location: Fully Remote
Shift: 3rd Shift | Monday – Friday (Overnight) | 40 hours/week
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer III to perform advanced configuration, maintenance, and upgrade activities across a complex, carrier-class, multi-vendor IP network. This position is focused on supporting virtualization and SDN transformation efforts, particularly transitioning from VXLAN to the eNSE platform, across Verizon's Pacific and North Central markets.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia hardware, automation skills in Python and tools like NSO/DCNM/VTS, and a strong background in L1–L3 networking. You will operate in a fully remote, fast-paced environment, working overnight shifts, and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, implementation, operations, and assurance teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia devices in a nationwide network.
- Implement network changes during scheduled maintenance windows, adhering to MOPs and corporate standards.
- Deploy and troubleshoot network equipment remotely in coordination with onsite personnel.
- Execute Layer 1–3 configurations involving MPLS, VRFs, VXLAN, L2VPN/L3VPN, OSPFv3, MPBGP, and QOS.
- Utilize automation tools (Python, NSO, DCNM, VTS, Pronghorn, Nuage) for network deployment and maintenance.
- Perform transport circuit turn-up and migrations; disconnect legacy circuits.
- Participate in the engineering of private cloud network onboarding and virtualization initiatives.
- Use tools like Ultra Compare, Diff Checker, Notepad++ for config comparisons and validation.
- Document and manage changes using tools like Kirke; engage in team calls and MOP reviews.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant network engineering experience.
- Strong CLI experience with Cisco (IOS, XE, XR, NX-OS), Juniper (JUNOS), Nokia (SR-OS).
- Extensive knowledge of Layer 1 fiber/copper cabling and remote console access.
- Deep understanding of routing/switching protocols and advanced technologies (BGP, MPLS, VXLAN, etc.).
- Comfortable working independently in an overnight remote role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and projects across time zones.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- CCNA, CCNP or equivalent certification.
- Hands-on experience with Nokia SR-OS platforms (7750, 7706, 7250).
- Familiarity with virtualization/cloud (VMware, OpenStack, AWS, Azure, Docker, Ansible).
- Experience supporting 3G/4G infrastructure and understanding of mobile call flows.
- 5+ years working with large-scale data network infrastructure.

- Schedule: Monday to Friday overnight (3rd shift); no overtime expected.
