Linux Server Administrator


We are looking for an experienced Linux Server Administrator to design, maintain, and optimize enterprise Linux infrastructure within a secure hybrid on-premises and cloud-integrated environment for the client. This role supports high-availability operations, enterprise patch management, repository administration, containerized workloads, and storage integration initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings strong operational depth across enterprise Linux distributions, automation tooling, Docker-based container platforms, iSCSI storage, and infrastructure modernization through proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives. This is a fully remote position aligned to Eastern Time business hours, with occasional after-hours support as required.


Key Responsibilities

Linux Infrastructure Operations

  • Deploy, configure, harden, and maintain enterprise Linux systems across dev, test, and production environments
  • Implement OS-level security controls and system services management

Patching & Lifecycle Management

  • Manage OS updates, security patching, and lifecycle compliance
  • Coordinate change windows to minimize operational disruption

Repository Administration

  • Administer enterprise repositories (Pulp or similar)
  • Ensure synchronization, version control, and governance of content

Containerization

  • Deploy and support Docker-based environments
  • Manage image lifecycle, security hardening, and performance tuning

Storage Integration

  • Configure and maintain iSCSI storage
  • Implement LVM, multipathing, and performance optimization

Automation & Modernization

  • Utilize Bash/Python scripting and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Lead infrastructure POCs and document transition plans to production

ITSM & Operations

  • Manage and update incidents within the IT service management system
  • Ensure timely resolution and operational transparency
Requirements
  • 5+ years of enterprise Linux administration experience
  • Experience supporting hybrid on-prem and cloud environments
  • Strong patch management and OS lifecycle administration experience
  • Experience with repository tools such as Pulp or equivalent
  • Hands-on Docker container management experience
  • Experience configuring iSCSI, LVM, and multipathing
  • Proficiency in Bash and/or Python scripting
  • Experience with Ansible and/or Terraform
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms
  • Strong documentation and POC leadership experience
