Rubric Law, a fully remote law firm, are seeking a full-time IP, Data and Technology Solicitor.

Overview:

Rubric Law is a dynamic boutique law firm which has spent the time required to hand pick and nurture its team. This attention to detail has enabled the firm to build a unique set of values by which the entire firm operates. The service delivered is comparable in quality and sophistication to the top 200 firms, however it benefits from a more personal touch.

We are now seeking an ambitious and commercially minded commercial property solicitor to facilitate continued growth during 2025.

The role:

This is a client-facing, strategic role for a solicitor who wants to play a key part in shaping and delivering a new service area within a growing firm. You’ll advise business clients on a wide range of commercial matters involving intellectual property, data protection, tech contracts and SaaS platforms.

You will also support legal content creation for our automation platform, miqo, and help develop scalable products alongside traditional client work.

Who you will be working with?

As a boutique commercial firm (8 head count) you will have direct access to all members of the team, including the Managing Director, delivering a superior client service, identifying opportunities and building relationships. You will report to the Head of the Department.

What is it like to work here?

We're an energetic group who are closely connected. There is a flat management structure with the Managing Director actively involved in the development of the team. The work is serious and there is a high output required, but the environment is supportive, fun, and enjoyable.

We operate four practice areas (Real Estate, Corporate, Commercial and Employment) and have acquired a specialist reputation. This however is not the end and the firm want to grow and develop each area of the business into new markets and geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

•       Advise on IP ownership, protection, and licensing (including trademarks and copyright)

•       Draft and negotiate data sharing, processing, and SaaS agreements.

•       Provide commercial advice on website terms, e-commerce, and tech services.

•       Guide clients on UK GDPR compliance and conduct privacy audits.

•       Act as lead lawyer on matters and assist in building internal precedents.

•       Collaborate with our miqo automation team to shape IP/data/tech templates.

•       Contribute to thought leadership and support marketing initiatives.

•       Participate in mentoring and team development as we grow the practice.

What will you be like?

  • You will have 3+ years’ PQE with strong experience in IP, data protection and tech contracts.
  • You will be entrepreneurial and confident in your ability to help the department grow.
  • You will be professional, personable and approachable.
  • You will be self-motivated, collaborative and able to thrive in a remote environment.
  • You will be highly articulate both verbally and in writing.
  • You will be confident in the use of a case management system and time recording will be a natural part of your working day.
  • You will enjoy being part of a dynamic team but comfortable with working autonomously.
  • You will be comfortable with a varied case load with minimal supervision.
  • You will be happy to be client-facing with a commercial and solution-led approach.
  • You will have an interest in legal tech and scalable product delivery.
  • You have experience in SaaS, AI or regulated technology environments.
  • Familiarity with automation tools or content systems.

Location and hours:

Full-time (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week) role — 9.00am till 5.30pm.

Location – this is a fully remote role with a virtual office in Bristol. Applicants from the Monmouthshire and Berkshire areas would be beneficial but not essential. The team currently meet on a bi-monthly basis on the outskirts of Bristol.
