A Typical Day

The Security Engineer specializes in the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise security tools and infrastructure. This role is integral to protecting the organization's data by investigating, creating, and recommending innovative security technologies. Key responsibilities include automating tool deployment and maintenance, performing threat simulations to detect possible risks, and providing expertise on integrating security controls into the IT environment.

The Security Engineer Will

  • Design, deploy, and maintain core security platforms such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), and Vulnerability Management systems.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of security tools, including evaluation, testing, integration, patching, upgrading, and decommissioning.
  • Test for compliance with established security policies and procedures.
  • Automate security controls, tool deployment, and operational processes (e.g., using SOAR) to improve metrics and operational support.
  • Review and update information security policies, architectures, and standards.
  • Respond to audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.

What You’ll Bring

  • Practical knowledge of enterprise security architecture and the workings of core security platforms (SIEM, EDR, Vulnerability Scanners, Firewalls, DLP, Identity Platforms).
  • Strong automation competency using Ansible, Terraform, Chef, or Puppet to deploy and configure security tools and infrastructure. Experience integrating security tools into CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps) is a plus.
  • Expertise with at least one scripting language (e.g., Perl, Python, PowerShell).
  • Crowdstrike or any Endpoint Detection and Response Tool (EDR)
  • Google Workspace or similar
  • Proofpoint or similar email experience (DMARC, Security Gateway, Threat Detection)
  • AWS or general cloud experience
  • Incident Response or SIEM experience

Compensation: Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience as defined below:

  • Lower in range - Building skills and experience in the role
  • Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role
  • Higher in range - Experience and skills add value above typical requirements of the role

Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
