To The Grave: The Wildlands of Faenora is a premium roguelite tactics RPG packed with humor, heart and heroic choices. With over 17,000 Steam wishlists, Wildlands will deliver a deep narrative experience with tight, grid-based combat and customizable characters, all in a lovingly nostalgic pixel art style.
To The Grave: The Hunters of Faenora is its action-forward, browser-based sister title. Built around short roguelite runs and a player-owned economy (with optional web3 features), Hunters provides strategic risk-reward mechanics and digitally ownable units in a monster-hunting world gone sideways. We are launching this game soon, so we need some extra hands on deck (like yours, you talented dev you!) to help get this over the finish line.
Role Overview:
We’re seeking a Unity Developer (Full Stack) to help build and implement core RPG gameplay systems across our Faenora titles. This is a technical role for someone fluent in C# and Unity with a passion for creating RPG experiences through clean code and design-driven development. You’ll collaborate closely with our game director and developers to bring combat mechanics, character progression and balancing tools to life. We are a small team and each member brings their own experience and expertise to the table to make the Faenora games the best they can be.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain full-stack Unity features for RPG mechanics (combat, stats, inventory, skills)
- Implement data-driven systems using spreadsheets and in-game tools
- Collaborate on system design, ensuring features are tightly aligned with gameplay goals
- Write clean, modular, well-documented code in C#
- Optimize code for performance across platforms (browser, mobile, PC, console)
- Integrate UI, data models, and combat logic end-to-end
- Troubleshoot bugs and support ongoing polish and iteration
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in game development
- Strong Unity and C# development experience
- Proven experience with RPG systems (combat, stat growth, equipment, etc.)
- Experience with full-stack implementation (client + light backend)
- Strong grasp of data-driven development (e.g., spreadsheet based games and tuning)
- Familiarity with collaborative game development workflows (Git, Jira, etc.)
- Excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience building or playing roguelite or tactics-based games
- Experience with non-game related software development
- Familiarity with hybrid or web3 game ecosystems (NFTs, token economies)
- Understanding of Unity performance optimization for WebGL
- Prior indie studio or startup experience
- Love for quirky fantasy worlds and player choice-driven design
Engagement Details:
- Location: Remote
- Rate: $32–36/hr CAD (market rate, commensurate with experience)
- Duration: Initial 3 months with potential for long-term collaboration
- Start Date: ASAP
