Freelance Developer / Product Engineer for AI-Writing Platform

Platform: writePAL.ai – a browser-based personalised writing assistant for authors, journalists, and content creators.

Location: Remote (preferred time zones: EU / US)

Contract Type: Freelance / Multiple-month (with possibility to extend)

Rate: Negotiable (paid by milestone)


About the Project


The Platform currently offers a rich set of features—personalised chat agent, document library with search/summarisation, hashtag-management, integration of LLMs, and a strong focus on privacy/portability.


We are seeking an experienced developer/engineer to help take the Platform to its next stage: scalability improvements, deeper AI integration, enhanced UX, mobile/desktop clients, and new partner-APIs.


Responsibilities


  • Review current architecture and code-base; suggest & implement improvements for performance, maintainability and scalability.
  • Work with AI/LLM integrations: e.g., expand beyond existing models, customise prompt pipelines, build chaining or retrieval-augmented generation workflows.
  • Develop new features — for example:
  • Mobile app (iOS/Android) or desktop client (Electron/Flutter).
  • Advanced library capabilities: semantic search, cross‐document linking, real-time collaboration.
  • API/SDK for third-party integrations, plugin system for writing enhancement tools.
  • Ensure strong privacy / data-protection practices (especially for writing libraries & personal data).
  • Improve UI/UX: intuitive writing workflows, hashtag management tools, dashboard analytics for writers.
  • Write clean, well-documented code; provide unit & integration tests; collaborate with product/UX leads.
  • Work in Agile/flexible mode; deliver milestones, provide status updates, adapt to evolving product roadmap.

    • Required Skills & Experience


    • Strong proficiency in full-stack web development: e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, React (or Vue), Node.js (or equivalent back-end).
    • Experience integrating AI services / LLMs (OpenAI, Llama, etc.), especially in writing workflows or content generation.
    • Experience building scalable web apps, deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and performance optimisation.
    • Familiarity with privacy/security best-practices (data encryption, secure access, user data isolation).
    • Experience with mobile/desktop app development is a plus (React Native, Flutter, Electron).
    • Familiar with version control (Git), CI/CD, code review, documentation.
    • Strong communication skills in English; self-driven, proactive, results-oriented.

    • Preferred but Not Required


    • Experience in writing tools / authoring platforms / creative-tech.
    • UX or UI design experience (able to prototype or refine writer-centric workflows).
    • Knowledge of plugin/extension frameworks or partner-API ecosystems.
    • Basic understanding of how AI models tune for writing style, personalization, user libraries.
