Brothers in Law Inc. (BiL) is a student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded at Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. BiL is committed to diversifying the legal profession by providing underrepresented students with mentorship, professional development, community service, and scholarships. The organization serves as a resource center for individuals in the legal profession, those pursuing higher education, and anyone aiming to improve the socioeconomic status of underserved communities. BiL promotes the principles of brotherly love, anti-sexism, anti-racism, anti-misogynoir, and LGBTQIA+ allyship.
Role Description
This is a volunteer remote role for a Fall Associate, offering course credit, college and career counseling, and complimentary membership. The Fall Associate will be responsible for assisting with legal research, drafting documents, coordinating events, and supporting mentorship programs. Additional tasks may include community outreach, administrative support, and participation in various organizational activities. Qualifications
- Legal research and writing skills
- Experience in event coordination, community outreach, and program support
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Commitment to the principles of brotherly love, anti-sexism, anti-racism, anti-misogynoir, and LGBTQIA+ allyship
- Previous experience in nonprofit organizations is a plus
- Currently pursuing a degree in law, political science, or a related field
