Distinguished Solution Architect

Harper is a high-performance distributed application platform. It combines a database, in-memory cache, and real-time message broker to allow users to create enterprise-grade solutions with fewer moving parts, fewer lines of code, and a superior developer experience

Job Description:

Harper is hiring a Distinguished Solution Architect with deep experience in cloud applications, distributed systems, and technical sales. This role is ideal for someone who has supported complex pre-sales engagements, guided large-scale customers through technical solutioning, and consistently owned the technical win in strategic enterprise deals.

You will be the technical expert and advisor in the room, partnering with executives, architects, and engineering teams to map customer challenges to Harper’s platform. This role requires hands-on technical skill, strong communication, and the ability to translate real-world requirements into practical, scalable solutions that help close deals and drive long-term customer success.

Responsibilities:

  • Own technical success across large, complex infrastructure and data platform deals from discovery through hand-off to delivery.
  • Guide customers through architecture reviews, technical design sessions, use case exploration, not just selling features, but solving infrastructure problems.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on distributed systems, cloud architectures, scalability patterns, and performance optimization.
  • Scope and document full solutions, including sizing, technical diagrams, pricing assumptions, and integration plans.
  • Deeply understand the Harper platform, including how it fits into multi-cloud, hybrid, containerized, and edge computing environments.
  • Partner closely with our Sales Team on deal strategy, technical qualification, and positioning Harper effectively within the infrastructure stack.
  • Actively influence how we sell, package, and position Harper’s platform in high-stakes opportunities.
  • Support and mentor other Solutions Architects and other team members in scalable system design and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in solutions engineering, technical architecture, infrastructure pre-sales, or consulting roles.
  • Experience supporting the sale of infrastructure software (databases, observability platforms, streaming tools, cloud platforms, etc.).
  • Hands-on background in architecting and deploying cloud-native, distributed systems, with expertise in cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong knowledge of modern API-driven platforms, eventing architectures, data pipelines, and cloud networking patterns.
  • Real-world Node.js development experience, you should be able to build or review code, not just talk about it.
  • Technical credibility with enterprise architects, engineers, and decision-makers alike.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly document architecture, tradeoffs, and rationale.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience working with databases, caching layers, or edge compute systems.
  • Familiarity with Harper or similar distributed data platforms.

Why Join Us:

  • Opportunity to be part of a high-growth startup with a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Flexible work environment with remote work options and a focus on work-life balance.
  • Competitive compensation package including base salary, commission, and benefits.
