The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on cloud experience, deep automation skills, and an understanding of modern DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability, and security‑by‑design.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

  • Build and manage infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP using IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment workflows through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement and maintain GitOps‑based workflows for version‑controlled, auditable infrastructure changes.
  • Configure cloud networking, IAM, and security boundaries aligned with federal security controls.

CI/CD & Policy‑as‑Code

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
  • Integrate Policy‑as‑Code frameworks (e.g., OPA, Sentinel, Azure Policy) for automated compliance enforcement.
  • Embed automated testing, validation, and security scanning into deployment workflows.

Observability & Reliability

  • Automate deployment of monitoring, alerting, and metrics integrations using platforms such as Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog, or Azure Monitor.
  • Define and track SLIs and SLOs for critical services.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to enhance incident detection and proactive remediation capabilities.

Security, Identity & Secrets Management

  • Manage secrets, credentials, and sensitive tokens using services such as KMS, Key Vault, or Vault.
  • Integrate CI/CD and automation tools with federated identity platforms (e.g., AWS Identity Center, Azure AD, Okta).
  • Enforce least‑privilege models, credential hygiene, and rotation policies.

Containerization & Deployment

  • Build, deploy, and maintain containerized workloads using Kubernetes services such as EKS, AKS, or GKE.
  • Use Helm, ArgoCD, or Kustomize to support declarative, automated deployments.
  • Troubleshoot networking, configuration, and application issues in Kubernetes environments.

Compliance & Cost Optimization

  • Maintain IaC and pipeline configurations aligned with federal frameworks such as NIST 800‑53 and FedRAMP‑related standards.
  • Automate collection of audit evidence for configuration management and security controls.
  • Collaborate with FinOps teams to monitor and optimize cloud resource consumption and costs.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Experience working with CI/CD platforms and cloud‑native automation tools.
  • Familiarity with containers and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST 800‑53, or SOC 2.

Preferred Certifications

  • AWS SysOps Administrator
  • Azure Administrator Associate
  • HashiCorp Terraform Associate
  • CompTIA Security+
