Contributing Writer (UK & IE Music)

Are you passionate about British music and want your writing to be published online?


CHUNES is looking for contributing writers to join our growing platform! Launched in 2021 during my time at university, CHUNES is all about celebrating the best of British and Irish music - from electronic to indie, to alternative. We deep dives into underrated gems to exclusive interviews with artists like Fatboy Slim and Jyoty. As a journalism graduate and live music addict, I built this blog as a space to share music opinions, spotlight emerging talent, and create exciting discussions about music!


About the role:

This is a completely flexible, remote opportunity where you’ll have writing freedom to explore the music that excites you most, whether that’s reviewing the latest releases, uncovering the next big thing, or breaking down industry trends. Success in this role means producing engaging, well-researched pieces that resonate with our audience.


This role is unpaid, but as CHUNES grows, there will be opportunities for paid work as and when they arise.


Responsibilities

  • Write compelling and original music reviews, features, and artist spotlights
  • Pitch fresh article ideas that align with CHUNES’ vision
  • Stay updated on new releases, trends, and emerging artists
  • Brainstorm content ideas for CHUNES' growing social media audience


Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills with a passion for music journalism
  • A deep love for British music, from underground gems to festival headliners
  • Ability to work independently
  • Previous writing experience (published work is a bonus but not essential)
