Position: Communications Coordinator (12-month contract)

Primary Location: Remote within Canada

Reports To: Director, Corporate Communications

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 + bonus + benefits

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.

About This Role And About You

Chemtrade is looking for a Communications Coordinator to join its Corporate Communications team on a 12-month contract. The role would be focused on providing support for internal communications projects and initiatives and employee communications but would also be responsible for maintaining and updating Chemtrade’s social media platforms and external website.

The role would be an important member of the team, supporting overall work and projects through the development of strategic content that aligns with the goals and priorities for the organization, including supporting the company’s aligning with its strong focus on employee safety, Vision 2030 Strategy, its Simplified Values, and strong focus on Safety. The role will also be responsible for coordinating the donation and sponsorship program.

The role will be responsible for coordinating and developing various materials such as social media and information screen content, maintain publishing calendars and drafting various memos, letters and announcements, working independently to manage issues and respond to internal client requests.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–3 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field
  • Education: A diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write in a concise and engaging manner
  • Digital Proficiency: Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite), Content Management Systems (e.g., SharePoint), and MS Office Suite.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with photo/video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva), and Google Analytics is often an asset

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Write, edit, and produce a variety of materials, including newsletters, intranet content, bulletins, articles, and information screen content
  • Social Media: Coordinate content for social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook), schedule posts that are aligned with the company’s strategic goals and programs
  • Project Support: Assist in implementing communication plans, project plans, and event coordination
  • Website and intranet (MyChemtrade) maintenance: Update website content (intranet/internet), including uploading content, editing pages, and updating key documents
  • Management of donation and sponsorship program: Monitor donation email account for new application, help review and steward the applications through the process, record and log each application, support leaders in responses to applicant
  • Internal Communications: Support internal communications campaigns, employee engagement, translation services, and event planning
  • Other duties: Support or activities as required
