Campaign Finance Intern (Volunteer Summer 2025)


The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL) is a coalition of foreign policy experts and young professionals dedicated to revitalizing American leadership through strategic investments in development. We believe that effective foreign aid strengthens national security, prevents pandemics from reaching our shores, and boosts the U.S. economy.


Our members drive policy change and support congressional campaigns that share this vision. We are currently seeking Campaign Finance Interns to assist with our fundraising and government relations efforts.


About the Internship

As a Campaign Finance Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in political fundraising, nonprofit development, and advocacy strategy. You will work directly with A4AL’s leadership team and play an integral role in strengthening donor engagement, event coordination, and policymaker outreach.


Key Responsibilities


Conduct research on prospective donors and analyze giving trends from comparable organizations

Create donor profiles to inform engagement and solicitation strategies

Reach out to potential and existing donors via phone and email to solicit contributions

Maintain and update our donor database, including tracking giving history and outreach progress

Draft donor communications, thank-you letters, and fundraising appeals

Prepare reports on donor outreach and campaign performance

Support the planning and execution of both virtual and in-person events, including logistics and outreach

Assist with various administrative, logistical, and research-related tasks as needed


Qualifications

Strong research and analytical skills

Excellent written and verbal communication

Interest in foreign policy, political campaigns, or nonprofit development

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines


Details

Location: Remote, with optional in-person opportunities depending on location

Hours: Flexible, typically 10–20 hours per week

Compensation: Unpaid, voluntary internship. We are happy to work with your school to arrange academic credit or CPT.


This internship is designed to be educational and impactful, offering early-career professionals the chance to develop practical skills in political fundraising, advocacy, and strategic communications within a fast-moving policy environment.
