Are you a highly organized, forward-thinking professional with a passion for creating vibrant, sustainable communities? Terra Soma is looking for a proactive, detail oriented, and creative Built Environment Project Manager to lead transformative projects from start to finish.

In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in project management and effective communication to deliver impactful solutions that prioritize walkability, bikeability, transportation equity, Complete Streets, Smart Growth, and sustainability. You’ll be a vital part of shaping how people move, connect, and thrive in their communities.

This role can be based in Washington State, Minnesota, or Native nations that share a geography with either state. This position is fully remote.

WE'RE SEEKING SOMEONE WITH:

  • Project management expertise to guide initiatives from conceptualization through completion, ensuring timely, on budget and successful delivery of services.
  • Outstanding communication skills with a proven ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences with a friendly, approachable tone to foster collaboration.
  • Proven experience leading or contributing to community planning and engagement processes that address the needs of socially and economically diverse communities.
  • Comfort and competency working across cultural differences, with experience collaborating with tribal communities and bilingual partners considered a strong plus.
  • Highly self-motivated and adaptable, capable of thriving both independently and in a collaborative remote team environment.
  • Comprehensive expertise in human-centered street design, public spaces, urban planning, transportation systems, placemaking, and innovative project approaches.
  • Demonstrated talent or passion for visual design and communication, with a keen eye for aesthetics and effective messaging.
  • A deep commitment to sustainability and equity.

AS A KEY MEMBER OF OUR TEAM YOU'LL:

  • Serve as the primary project contact and manager, receiving consistent positive feedback from staff, partners, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Complete document writing and graphic design of project reports and deliverables to ensure high quality and client satisfaction.
  • Assume leadership and management of project schedules, teams, budgets, and deliverables to ensure they are completed on time and within scope.
  • Lead groups in their community change agenda through effective meeting design and facilitation of both virtual and in-person client and community meetings, workshops, and other engagements.
  • Contribute to and foster company culture grounded in Terra Soma’s values and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Min. 3-5 years of professional experience in project management and working on or leading multi-faceted and multi-stakeholder projects and teams in built environment and transportation systems
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in urban planning, design, architecture, environmental, and/or urban policy
  • Expertise or familiarity with one or more project management methodologies, tools, and platforms, including timekeeping software. Project management certification is a plus, but not required
  • Fluency with Google Suite (Google Drive, Gmail, sheets, docs, etc.), Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software applications
  • Proficiency with graphic design software Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certificate a plus, but not required

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • $80,000 - 110,000 / yr commensurate with experience
