Backend Engineer
Roster – Backend Engineer (2–4 YOE, Remote, Full-time)
Roster is an AI hiring platform for the creator economy, helping top creators like Yes Theory, Jesser, and Airrack find creative talent. We’re backed by leading angels in media and creator tech, and our platform has been revenue-generating since launch in June 2024.
We’re looking for our first Backend Engineer to build and scale the backbone of our product. You’ll design high-performance databases, develop scalable APIs, and optimize infrastructure to support a rapidly growing marketplace. You’ll work closely with our Head of Engineering (ex-Founding Engineer at Nas Company) in a fast-paced, 0→1 startup environment.
Requirements
2–4 years of backend development experience (Laravel or similar OOP frameworks)
Strong SQL design & optimization skills
Experience with DevOps and production deployments
Ability to move fast, collaborate remotely, and write clean, maintainable code
Nice to have: marketplace scaling experience, AI integration exposure, and willingness to support frontend development.
Stack: Laravel (PHP), SQL, React, Python.
