The Opportunity:
Unity Environmental University seeks experienced, student-centered adjunct faculty to teach foundational Communications courses within Career Edge, our innovative new business unit offering workforce-aligned, fully online Applied Bachelor of Science degree programs. These programs support working adult learners across five sustainability-connected majors: Psychology & Human Services, Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Business Management, Environmental Crime Investigation, and Culinary Innovation & Food Systems.
The Communications curriculum builds essential writing, reasoning, and workplace communication skills through scaffolded courses and 1-credit micro-modules supported by AI-enabled learning tools. Faculty in this area play a crucial role in building student confidence and competence in academic and professional communication.

The Location:
Unity Environmental University's Distance Education curriculum is 100% online. Our Distance Education Adjuncts will teach remotely and are required to reside within the United States for the entire duration of the academic term in which they are teaching. It is the responsibility of the adjunct to ensure that they are working in a state that aligns with the tax information reported to HR.

Qualifications
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking faculty who:
- Are motivated to teach and mentor working adult learners in a fully asynchronous environment.
- Have expertise in college writing, business communication, composition, or technical writing.
- Provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback grounded in best practices of writing instruction.
- Are comfortable using AI-supported learning tools, including formative feedback systems and rubric-based evaluation.
- Are committed to access, inclusion, and removing barriers for nontraditional learners.
- Can connect communication principles to real-world, professional applications.
- Master’s degree in English, Communications, Technical/Professional Writing, Rhetoric & Composition, or a closely related field.
- Online teaching experience.
- Strong record of supporting adult learners, first-generation students, or diverse learning needs.
- Experience teaching writing in applied, interdisciplinary, or career-focused programs.
- Familiarity or comfort with AI-enhanced instructional tools or willingness to learn.
- Professional experience in communication-intensive fields (editing, business writing, nonprofit communication, etc.).
