Accounting Specialist


Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Accounting Specialist. The ideal candidate will possess strong data entry and analytical skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain accurate financial records. This role requires proficiency in Excel and Adobe, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines. The Accounting Specialist will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting processes, including month end close. This is a full-time, remote position.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily reconciliation of bank activity to general ledger, complete monthly bank reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts, including fixed asset depreciation, prepaid allocations, and accruals, maintaining supporting documentation
  • Manage sales tax compliance, including reviewing/filing returns, and completing audit documentation
  • Assist and support Accounts Payable with invoice entry, payments, and inquiries, as needed
  • Assist with various month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports as needed
  • Collaborate effectively with the accounting team and other departments
  • Adhere to established accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Communicate financial information clearly and concisely, both written and verbally



Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, data manipulation, and reporting capabilities
  • Proficiency in Adobe software (e.g., Acrobat) for PDF creation, editing, and management
  • Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable
  • Proven experience in reconciling bank accounts
  • Solid experience in reconciling balance sheet accounts, including fixed asset depreciation, prepaid allocations, and accruals
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines independently
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
  • Proven ability to take direction and follow established procedures consistently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus
  • Knowledge of employer tax requirements is a plus
