You will have your hands on the code. You’re not only managing tickets. You sit in the middle of architecture, delivery, and people growth.
Some mornings start in the code, reviewing a complex PR, spotting an architectural smell, or jumping into a tricky performance issue. You care about how things are built, not just that they ship.
Other parts of your week are about planning and agile process. You’re working with Product to break down initiatives into realistic increments. You’re thinking about sequencing, trade-offs, dependencies, and risk. You understand agile isn’t ceremonies, it’s predictable execution. You track progress, remove blockers, and make sure the squad delivers what it commits to.
You’re also the person engineers look to when they’re stuck, technically or professionally. You mentor without micromanaging. You challenge thinking. You raise standards. You help people connect the “why” behind decisions.

As a Java Backend Tech Lead, you’ll work on systems that are core to our product and business operations
Your Projects Will Include
- Designing and evolving scalable backend services in Java
- Building and maintaining APIs that power customer-facing and internal products
- Refactoring legacy components to improve performance, maintainability, and reliability
- Improving system architecture to support growth and increased traffic
- Designing integrations with external services and third-party providers
- Strengthening observability, monitoring, and system resilience
- Contributing to CI/CD improvements and deployment reliability
- Addressing technical debt intentionally, not reactively
You’ll influence how our backend systems are structured for the next phase of growth.
You have….
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead or senior engineer with leadership responsibility
- Strong technical expertise in Backend Java, including serverless code and GraphQL
- Experience designing scalable, maintainable systems
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers
- Confidence communicating with non-technical stakeholders
- Strong understanding of software architecture and development principles
- Experience with AWS and cloud-native architecture
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in high-visibility or externally exposed technical roles
- Experience operating in high-growth or scale-up environments
- Technically strong and comfortable owning decisions
- Clear and structured in how you think
- Able to balance speed with sustainability
- Comfortable operating without constant oversight
- Willing to give and receive direct feedback
- Focused on raising standards, not protecting ego
