Founding Head of Community (Part-Time, Remote)

Compensation: Equity + performance-based bonuses

StartHub is building the next-generation platform for founders — a place where entrepreneurs, operators, and investors come together to learn, connect, and build meaningful companies.

We are pre-revenue, founder-led, and community-first. Today, we have 670+ founders and operators across Discord and are actively migrating to a new, more robust community experience on Circle.

Community is not a “nice-to-have” at StartHub — it is the product.

THE ROLE:

We’re looking for a Founding Head of Community to own StartHub’s community end-to-end.


  • This is not a moderation role.
  • This is not a social media role.
  • This is a builder role.


You will architect, launch, and scale a high-signal founder community that drives engagement, retention, trust, and long-term value — working directly with the founder to shape the DNA of StartHub.


If you’ve built or operated a startup community before — especially in a founder-led, early-stage environment — this role was designed for you.


WHAT YOU'LL OWN:


You will have full ownership across the community lifecycle, including:

Community Infrastructure

  • Own and manage the community platform (Circle)
  • Lead the migration from Discord → Circle
  • Design community structure, channels, permissions, and workflows


Onboarding & Activation

  • Build onboarding flows that turn new members into active participants
  • Create activation moments within the first 7–14 days
  • Reduce churn and increase early engagement


Programming & Engagement

  • Design and run AMAs, founder roundtables, workshops, and office hours
  • Partner with internal and external operators, founders, and investors for events
  • Create repeatable engagement formats (weekly, monthly, quarterly)


Culture & Member Success

  • Define and protect StartHub’s community culture
  • Moderate discussions and maintain high signal-to-noise
  • Act as the voice of the member inside the company


Partnerships & Ecosystem

  • Collaborate with partners inside the community (VCs, operators, advisors)
  • Activate contributors and community leaders
  • Help turn members into advocates and ambassadors


Metrics & Insights

  • Track engagement, retention, activation, and qualitative feedback
  • Report insights directly to the founder
  • Help define what “community success” actually means at StartHub


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:


You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have 3+ years of experience building or operating communities
  • Have worked in:

- Startup communities

- Founder-led ecosystems

- B2C marketplaces or platforms


  • Think like an operator but care deeply about people and culture
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage chaos
  • Take ownership without waiting for permission
  • Can balance vision with execution


BONUS (NOT REQUIRED):


  • You’ve been a founder or early startup employee
  • You’ve worked with Circle, Discord, Slack, or similar platforms
  • You enjoy building from zero → one
