Engineering Manager, Outbound - Remote USA (*eligible states)
About The Role
We seek a seasoned Engineering Leader to drive the development of our e-commerce fulfillment systems and the integration of advanced automation technologies. In this role, you will lead a team of talented software engineers in designing and implementing high-quality software solutions, focusing on scalability, operational efficiency, and the seamless integration of automated machinery and robotics in our fulfillment operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with company objectives while fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

We make selling effortless with free virtual appointments, in-home pickup, drop-off, and direct shipping. - Lead and mentor a team of talented software engineers in designing and implementing high-quality software solutions for fulfillment operations.
- Drive engineering efforts in our e-commerce fulfillment systems, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and integration with automated machinery and robotics.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of our core systems built on Ruby on Rails and Elixir, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Lead the integration and implementation of advanced fulfillment machinery, including auto-boxing and auto-bagging machines, conveyor belts, 3D scanners, scales, and similar technologies.
- Work closely with fulfillment and operations teams to ensure seamless interaction between software systems and physical machinery, optimizing outbound and fulfillment processes.
- Mentor and manage a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging team members to explore new technologies and practices, particularly in the field of automation and robotics.
- Align engineering activities with broader company objectives by working cross-functionally with various teams, focusing on enhancing fulfillment operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- 7+ of experience as an IC
- 3+ years in leading and developing a team
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in e-commerce fulfillment operations
- Experience implementing fulfillment machinery
- Extensive experience in Ruby on Rails, Elixir, Python or other backend language
- Proven track record in managing and scaling distributed, public cloud-native systems and services.
- Strong understanding of relational database systems (MySQL or PostgreSQL preferred).
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor and inspire a team of engineers.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
