Director of Total Rewards - Remote


DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Total Rewards is responsible for designing, leading, and continuously evolving the organization’s total rewards strategy to attract, retain, and motivate top talent. This role partners closely with executive leadership, HR, Finance, and business leaders to ensure compensation, incentives, and benefits are competitive, equitable, compliant, and aligned with business goals.



RESPONSIBILITIES::

  • Lead the development and execution of the organization’s compensation philosophy, frameworks, and governance models.
  • Design and manage salary structures, job architecture, pay bands, and leveling frameworks across the organization.
  • Oversee annual compensation processes including merit increases, bonus planning, incentive payouts, and equity programs (if applicable).
  • Ensure internal pay equity and external market competitiveness through benchmarking and analysis.
  • Partner with leaders on compensation decisions for executive, leadership, and critical roles.
  • Design and manage short-term and long-term incentive programs aligned to company performance and individual contribution.
  • Collaborate with Finance and executive leadership to align incentive plans with financial goals and performance metrics.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of incentive plans and recommend improvements based on outcomes and market trends.
  • Oversee benefits strategy including health, welfare, retirement, wellness, and other employee programs.
  • Ensure benefit offerings support employee engagement, retention, and well-being while managing cost and compliance.
  • Partner with brokers and vendors to evaluate, select, and optimize benefits programs.
  • Lead benefits communication strategy to ensure employees understand and value their total rewards package.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and market surveys to inform compensation decisions and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, pay transparency, equal pay).
  • Support audits, regulatory reporting, and governance requirements as needed.
  • Develop reporting and dashboards for leadership on compensation and total rewards metrics.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and HR partners on compensation and rewards strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop compensation and benefits team members (if applicable).
  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Finance, and Legal to support hiring, promotions, and organizational changes.
  • Support M&A, restructuring, and growth initiatives from a total rewards perspective.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 8–12+ years of progressive experience in compensation and/or total rewards, including leadership responsibility.
  • Deep expertise in compensation design, job architecture, and incentive programs.
  • Strong understanding of benefits strategy and vendor management.
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership and influencing complex business decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations.
  • Knowledge of compensation-related compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
