Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Data Science Intern to contribute to the incorporation of the next generation of Artificial Intelligence into Reuters News tooling. In this role, the candidate is expected to work on an engineering team integrating deep learning and machine learning models into cloud-based applications. Candidate will work with senior Data Scientists on data acquisition, training, and performance measurements.
As a Data Science Intern, You will:
- Research machine learning models and/or systems
- Identify the correct model to use for Reuters News
- Integrate machine learning models into Reuters systems
- Acquire and process data for various use cases
- Train and evaluate machine learning models
Required Skills and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, or Computer Science with a focus on Data Science.
- Have a good understanding of, and academic experience with, deep learning and machine learning models.
- Hands-on experience in one or more programming languages, such as Python or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with common machine learning and natural language processing evaluation metrics, such as accuracy, precision, and recall.
- Understand API development and best practices.
- Comfortable with Agile practices.
- Academic experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and exposure to automation, system monitoring, and cloud-native applications.
- Academic experience working on group software projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Software engineering practical experience or degree
- Familiarity with building machine learning models and/or systems.
- Ability to translate the latest research into implementations addressing our use cases.
- Exposure to Computer Vision tasks, such as feature engineering, image processing, image classification, object detection, OCR, etc.
- Familiarity with structured and unstructured databases.
