Cyber Security Engineer - Remote

Contract Position: 6 months

Rate: $120-$140/hr

No H1B or 3rd parties


I am looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure systems, networks, and applications. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the organization's information assets from internal and external threats, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement secure network, system, and application architectures.
  • Monitor networks and systems for security events and respond to incidents.
  • Coordinate remediation of and pen test findings.
  • Respond to SOC escalations and assist other teams with troubleshooting.
  • Assist with management and response to the ticketing queue.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Participate in incident response planning, tabletop exercises, and forensic investigations.
  • Review and improve access control measures, identity management, and authentication systems.
  • Assist with providing evidence to auditors,
  • Work cross-functionally with IT, DevOps, and other teams to integrate security into infrastructure and development lifecycles.
  • Stay current with emerging threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security roles.
  • Solid understanding of network and system security principles, firewalls, encryption, and authentication protocols.
  • Experience with security tools (e.g., SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, firewalls).
  • Knowledge of common frameworks and standards (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, MITRE Telecommunication&CK).

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GSEC, or Security+.
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and analysis.
  • Experience supporting audits and compliance initiatives (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
