Account Management Intern (Remote in U.S.)
How You’ll Make An Impact
As a Membership Intern, you will contribute directly to the work of the Membership and Account Management team supporting real projects that impact on our organization and mission. You will report to Senior Manager, Membership and collaborate with teams such as Product, Technology, and Marketing.
During this internship, you will focus on the following problem, opportunity, or research question: How can the Membership and Account Management team leverage lapsed member accounts to support their Net Zero target?
This Work Will Support Membership’s Net Zero Target And Contributes To USGBC’s Strategic Priority To Expand The Global Green Community Of Practice And Its Influence Through Membership. It Will Also Help Inform Future Decisions, Policies, Or Improvements. You Will Also
By the end of the internship, you are expected to deliver:

Location: This position is remote in the United States.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM in the intern’s time zone. Note: Interns are not compensated for holidays or personal time off.
Hiring Process
Compensation: Hourly rate: $20–$25 per hour, based on education and experience. Compensation is determined using an internal intern pay matrix and is not negotiable.

- Gain hands-on experience working on meaningful initiatives
- Develop professional and technical skills
- Partner with experienced professionals across teams
- Lead a defined project with measurable outcomes
By the end of the internship, you are expected to deliver:
- An in-depth research and analysis of USGBC’s lapsed membership and key engagement drivers
- A proposal for a lapsed member win-back campaign
- Execution of win-back campaign using multi-channel outreach
- Final presentation for the Intern Showcase
- Develop a better understanding of USGBC & GBCI’s programs, values, and member base, which includes organizations from a variety of sectors across the globe
- Contribute to Membership’s Net Zero goal by executing monthly renewal call campaigns, generating invoices, and processing credit card payments
- Create and edit resources such as email communications, SmartSheet files, and PowerPoint decks
- Conduct industry research on specific members, markets, or sectors to better address and meet the needs of existing members, and inform/evolve strategies that seek to develop new opportunities with prospective members.
- Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Marketing to gather insights and coordinate deliverables
- Track progress and document work using Smartsheet and Salesforce
- Develop reports, presentations, and written materials for leadership and partners
- Participate in team meetings, project reviews, and learning sessions
- Support data collection, evaluation, and quality assurance activities
- Contribute to improving internal documentation and workflows
- Maintain accurate records of weekly hours worked
- Prepare and deliver a final project/research presentation
Experience (if applicable)
- Prior internships, research projects, volunteer work, or relevant coursework in sustainability or association management.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed Bachelor’s degree in sustainability or business
- Familiarity with:
