ServiceNow ITOM / Discovery Consultant/Developer (Contract)

About the Role

Customizo is looking for a ServiceNow ITOM / Service Discovery Contractor with strong hands-on experience in Discovery, CMDB, and ITOM implementations. You’ll be responsible for designing, configuring, and optimizing ServiceNow Discovery and related ITOM capabilities for enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the setup, configuration, and tuning of ServiceNow Discovery (horizontal & top-down).

• Configure and maintain MID servers, credentials, IP ranges, schedules, and discovery patterns/probes.

• Design and implement CMDB data model and CI class structure, ensuring data quality and reconciliation.

• Integrate Discovery with CMDB, Event Management, and other ITOM/ITSM processes.

• Troubleshoot Discovery failures, connectivity issues, and credential problems; provide root cause analysis.

• Define and implement discovery best practices, standards, and documentation.

• Work with customer technical teams (network, security, infra, application owners) to onboard new technologies and environments (on-prem, cloud).

• Support go-live, hypercare, and ongoing optimization of ITOM capabilities.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on ServiceNow experience, with a strong focus on ITOM / Discovery / CMDB.

• Proven experience implementing and managing ServiceNow Discovery in complex environments (multiple MID servers, multiple datacenters/clouds).

• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, ports, firewalls, proxies, SNMP, WMI, SSH, WinRM, etc.).

• Experience with CMDB design, CI normalization, reconciliation, and data model governance.

• Solid understanding of ITIL / ITSM processes and how ITOM supports them.

• Ability to work independently as a contractor, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Event Management, Service Mapping, Cloud Discovery (AWS/Azure/GCP).

• Relevant certifications, such as:

• ServiceNow CIS – ITOM

• ServiceNow CIS – Discovery (or strong proven Discovery experience)

• ServiceNow CSA / CAD

• Previous consulting experience with large enterprise clients.

Contract Details

• Start date: ASAP

• Engagement: Full-time contract (40 hrs/week)

• Duration: 3 months (with potential extension)
