Academic Research and Support Associate (International Relations/Social Sciences)

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Academic Research and Support Associate with expertise in International Relations, Humanities, or Social Sciences to assist with academic and research-related tasks. This role involves supporting research, methodology, writing, and data analysis while ensuring high-quality work. Candidates must be independent, proactive, and capable of multitasking in a remote environment. Use of ChatGPT or AI tools for tasks is strictly prohibited.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews, systematic reviews, and theoretical synthesis related to International Relations, Humanities, or Social Sciences.
  • Draft and prepare academic manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals
  • Support the development of book chapters, policy briefs, and academic essays
  • Assist with drafting essays, research papers, and academic content while adhering to academic standards (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago).
  • Provide support with creating research outlines, frameworks, and notes for essays, group projects, and journal preparation.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data using tools such as Excel or SPSS.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations with clear, engaging, and well-organized slides.
  • Organize references and citations using tools like Zotero or Mendeley.
  • Brainstorm and develop topics and arguments for essays and academic papers in the field of International Relations or related disciplines.
  • Review and proofread academic content for grammar, clarity, and coherence.
  • Communicate progress regularly and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Provide critical analysis and insights into academic findings where required.


Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in academic research, writing, or related work, preferably in International Relations, Social Sciences, or Humanities.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with research tools (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley) and data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed).
  • Ability to independently manage tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of academic formatting and citation styles such as APA, MLA, or Chicago.
  • A portfolio or proof of past work (e.g., essays, reports, or presentations) is required.
  • Use of ChatGPT or AI tools for tasks is strictly prohibited.
  • Immediate availability is a strong advantage.
  • Solid experience in academic publishing, ideally with 10 or more peer-reviewed publications in recognized journals (Scopus, Springer, Sage, Elsevier, etc.)
  • A portfolio or academic profile (Google Scholar, Scopus, or ResearchGate) is required

  • Background in academic research, International Relations, Humanities, or Social Sciences.
  • Experience preparing presentations and academic content tailored to these fields.
  • Ability to collaborate and adapt to dynamic academic requirements.
